Paving Operations to Close University Boulevard Ramps to C-470 Today and Friday
The paving operations will require full closures of two on-ramps from University Boulevard to C-470.
“In the next couple of weeks, we will place northbound University Boulevard in a temporary alignment in order to complete the first phase of the concrete repairs,” said CDOT Project Engineer George Warda. “Before we can realign traffic, we must complete the detour pavement in the median, which means left turns will not be possible during the paving operations. As a result, two on-ramps will be closed while the paving operations are underway.”
The following closures will be in place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 9th and Friday, December 10th, weather permitting:
- Southbound University Boulevard to Eastbound C-470: The ramp will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Detour: Motorists can take Dad Clark Drive to Broadway where access to eastbound C-470 is available.
- Northbound University Boulevard to Westbound C-470: The ramp will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Detour: Motorists can take County Line Road to Broadway where access to westbound C-470 is available.
Delays are expected and alternate routes are advised. CDOT would like to remind motorists to plan ahead, obey all construction signs and flaggers and “Slow for the Cone Zone.” Most fines for infractions that occur in the work zone will be doubled.
This work is part of a safety improvement project in three locations on University Boulevard and Wadsworth Boulevard. The project will remove and replace deteriorating concrete at University Boulevard and C-470 and University Boulevard and Dry Creek Road. In addition, the traffic signal at Wadsworth Boulevard and Coal Mine Avenue will be upgraded.
