Concrete Box Culvert Repair Underway On State Highway 392
The project repairs the concrete box culvert, which was originally constructed in 1955, and stabilizes the embankment and slopes.
“Due to natural erosion in the area, the roadway embankment around the culvert has deteriorated,” said CDOT Project Engineer Lou Keen. “To stabilize the embankment and slope, we are going to mitigate the cause of the erosion, widen the shoulders and flatten the slopes adjacent to the roadway to improve the safety at this location.”
Throughout construction, motorists can expect occasional single-lane alternate traffic on SH 392 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. In addition, the speed limit will be reduced from 55 mph to 35 mph when lane closures are in place. Delays are expected and alternate routes are strongly advised. CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all construction signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
Mountain Constructors, Inc. is the contractor for this $918,000 project that is being funded through Funding Advancements for Surface Transportation and Economic Recovery (FASTER). The entire project should be complete by early May 2011.
