Bridge Work To Close Santa Fe Drive Over C-470 Tonight
The following lane closures will be in place tonight, weather permitting:
- Southbound Santa Fe Drive: All lanes of southbound Santa Fe Drive between C-470 and County Line Road will be closed from 9 p.m. tonight until 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Detour: Motorists can take County Line Road east to Lucent Boulevard where access to westbound C-470 is available. Take westbound C-470 to southbound Santa Fe Drive.
- Northbound Santa Fe Drive: One lane of northbound Santa Fe Drive between County Line Road and C-470 will be closed from 7 p.m. tonight to 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Major delays are expected and alternate routes are strongly advised. CDOT would like to remind motorists to plan ahead, obey all traffic signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.” Fines for most infractions that occur in the work zone will be doubled.
The work is part of a safety and mobility improvement project that constructs a flyover ramp from southbound Santa Fe Drive (US 85) to eastbound C-470. In addition, the project will construct a new bridge over Erickson Boulevard as well as a bicycle/pedestrian bridge over Erickson Boulevard. The bicycle/pedestrian trail will also be reconstructed.
The $26.7 million project is partially funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) as well as CDOT and Douglas County. Edward Kraemer and Sons, Inc. is the contractor for this project scheduled to be complete by January 2012.
