Bridge Work To Close Eastbound C-470 At Santa Fe Drive Tonight And Next Week

December 16, 2010 - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 6 - DOUGLAS COUNTY— Tonight, December 16th and December 19th through December 22nd, weather permitting, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close all lanes of eastbound C-470 at Santa Fe Drive each night from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

During the closure, motorists will be detoured via the on and off-ramps at Santa Fe Drive.  The closure will allow crews to continue construction of the new flyover ramp from southbound Santa Fe Drive to eastbound C-470.

In addition to the full closure of eastbound C-470, one lane of westbound C-470 near Santa Fe Drive will be closed each night from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.  Delays are expected and alternate routes are advised.  CDOT would like to remind motorists to plan ahead, obey all traffic signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”  Fines for most infractions that occur in the work zone will be doubled.

The work is part of a safety and mobility improvement project that constructs a flyover ramp from southbound Santa Fe Drive (US 85) to eastbound C-470.  In addition, the project will construct a new bridge over Erickson Boulevard as well as a bicycle/pedestrian bridge over Erickson Boulevard.  The bicycle/pedestrian trail will also be reconstructed.

The $26.7 million project is partially funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) as well as CDOT and Douglas County.  Edward Kraemer and Sons, Inc. is the contractor for this project scheduled to be complete by January 2012.
