Project Start Delayed One Week - CDOT Maintenance to Resurface and Improve Section of US 160/550 between SH 3 and Farmington Hill

October 6, 2010 - Southwestern Colorado/CDOT Region 5 - Nighttime and weekend work will help expedite the project’s completion before winter. DURANGO – On Monday, October 11, the Colorado Department of Transportation Maintenance division will begin a project to improve the roadway surface on US 160/550 south of Durango.

The work zone includes the section of highway that lies between two recently completed projects (the concrete resurfacing project through Bodo and the Grandview 4th Lane project). The work zone is from milepost 85 (near the “high bridge” by WalMart) through mile post 88 (near the signal at Farmington Hill). CDOT Maintenance has contracted this project to Four Corners Materials for $1.98 million.

During the project, scheduled for completion by November 15, crews will mill the existing asphalt surface, place new asphalt, make bridge improvements including expansion joint repairs at each end and installation of a waterproof membrane on the deck.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS –

DAYTIME: Work hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM for mainline paving (on US 160/550).

NIGHTTIME: For pavement milling operations, crews will work at night, are Monday through Friday from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Paving through three US 160/550 intersections (at SH 3, Dominguez Drive and River Road) will also occur during this time.

WEEKENDS: The intersection paving, noted above, may also occur (Saturday and Sunday nights, from 6 PM to 9:00 AM. Also, on some weekends, motorists can expect single-lane reductions from 6:00 PM Friday to 6:00 AM Monday—however, a single, continuous travel lane will remain open in each direction.
