Patching to Cause Delays on Arapahoe Road at Parker Road Tomorrow

October 29, 2010 - Denver Metro Colorado/CDOT Region 6 - ARAPAHOE COUNTY – Tomorrow, October 30th, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will conduct emergency asphalt patching on eastbound and westbound Arapahoe Road at Parker Road. The work will require various single and double lane closures from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“Several weeks ago, waterline work was completed in this area and a temporary asphalt patch was used in order to reopen all lanes of traffic in time for weekday traffic,” said CDOT Project Engineer Ed Bullard.  “As a result, we need to permanently pave across all lanes of eastbound and westbound Arapahoe Road before winter hits.  The weekend is the only time we can have lane closures in place for an extended period due to morning and afternoon peak hours during the week.”

Major delays are expected on Saturday and alternate routes are strongly advised. CDOT would like to remind motorists to obey all construction signs and flaggers and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”  All lanes of eastbound and westbound Arapahoe Road will reopen by 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Motorists should also be reminded that a temporary alignment is in place on Parker Road and Arapahoe Road until May 2011 to accommodate the construction of the new Parker Road bridge over Arapahoe Road.  CDOT encourages motorists to seek alternate routes whenever possible.  For more details about the temporary alignment and the project visit http://www.coloradodot.info/projects/parkerarapahoe.

Hamon Constructors, Inc. is the contractor for this $32 million project, which should be complete by the end of November 2011.
