Mt. Evans Highway Closes for Season Next Week

October 1, 2010 - CLEAR CREEK COUNTY – Central Eastern Colorado/CDOT Region 1 - The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is closing the lower portion of the Mount Evans Highway (State Highway 5) – between Echo Lake and Summit Lake – for the season on Monday, October 4.

CDOT closed the five-mile segment from Summit Lake to the top of Mount Evans (14,264 feet) the day after Labor Day, per agreement with the National Forest Service.

The highway is scheduled to reopen on Friday, May 27, 2011, weather permitting.
