Bridge Deck Repairs on US 6 to Continue into Next Week, Bridge to Remain Closed Over the Weekend

October 29, 2010 - Northeastern Colorado/CDOT Region 4 - MORGAN COUNTY – Yesterday, October 28th, Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) maintenance crews started bridge deck repairs on US 6 at milepost 373.256, which is just east of Brush.

The work was originally scheduled to be complete by 4:30 p.m. today, but the bridge will have to remain closed until 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 1st.

“After rotomilling the bridge deck, we discovered that the entire bridge deck was in bad condition and needs to be repaired rather than just spot locations along the bridge deck,” said CDOT Maintenance Supervisor Wes Templeton.  “As a result, the repairs will take an extra day, which means the bridge will be closed over the weekend until work can resume on Monday.”

During the closure, a signed detour route will be in place that takes motorists to State Highway (SH) 71 where they will travel north to Morgan County Road U.  Once on County Road U, travel east to US 6.

Crews will continue the bridge deck repairs today and will pave the bridge in asphalt on Monday.  All lanes of US 6 at milepost 373.256 will reopen by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, November 1st.
