The 2022 Standard Specification book is mandatory for use on projects advertised on or after October 1, 2022 until September 30, 2023. Non-CDOT employees will have to print and assemble this Specification book.

Style Guide for Writing Specifications

Revised on April 21, 2023. The intention of this guide is to help people who create or edit specifications for the Department. Following the recommendations and guidelines will result in specifications that are clear, concise, correct, complete, and consistent. This Style Guide is a standardization device designed to achieve uniform word and type treatment, and aiming for economy of word use.

Project Specification Assembly Tool (PSAT)

This Tool assembles the required Project Special Provisions and the current Standard Special Provisions Index into an overall Specifications Package for use in an advertisement set. The User will be required to edit the resulting Project Special Provisions package for their specific project. The PSAT maybe have to be downloaded to user's computer and Macros must be enabled. ___________________________________________________________________

PLEASE NOTE: As of February 6, 2020, please use these prices for the Asphalt Cement Cost Adjustment index. These monthly prices are averaged from the weekly "Poten & Partners" and "Argus Americas" prices for asphalt oil according to oil distilleries in Colorado and neighboring states. They accurately reflect the true asphalt oil prices that CDOT uses for the plus (+) or minus (-) 10% changes according to the Revision of Section 109 - Asphalt Cement Cost Adjustment specification.
