Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP)
At the time of award, CDOT will determine which Lines of Insurance Coverage will be covered in the OCIP, and which will be covered by the Contractor.
The intent of the OCIP incentive is two-fold. One is to maximize the scope of construction project improvements by providing incentives that can compensate the contractor for hidden or duplicative business costs associated with insurance. The other is to reward contractors for better than industry standard safety record and performance.
The intent of this outline is to give the Region Project Manager a basic understanding of the contract requirements of an Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) and to give some guidance on how to include an OCIP in a CMGC Project.
