Summer to Fall 2026 Construction Maps
These maps highlight active construction projects along or near the I-70 Mountain Corridor, from Golden to the Utah border, during spring, summer and fall 2026.
The I-70 Floyd Hill and I-70 West Vail Pass Auxiliary Lane projects will be particularly active this summer, so we encourage signing up for the text alert services described with each project below.

West Side of the Eisenhower Tunnel Projects
Location: I-70 in both directors between Gypsum and Eagle, including the I-70 Eagle and Gypsum on-ramp
Schedule: April - November 2026
Traffic Impacts: Daily lane closures between Gypsum to Eagle. Nightly bridge work east of Eagle, near Wolcott.

Location: East of Silverthorne (Exit 205) to Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnel
Schedule: September 2025 to Fall 2026
Traffic Impacts: Monday to Thursday daytime single lane and shoulder closures in both directions.

Location: I-70 at the CO 9 Frisco interchange (Exit 203) and Lusher Court/Dillon Dam Road
Schedule: April 2026 to Fall 2027
Traffic Impacts: Daytime construction zone delays and nighttime lane closures.

Location: I-70 from the East Vail Exit to the Vail Pass Rest Area
Schedule: August 2021 to December 2026
Traffic Impacts: Intermittent weekday 20-minute traffic and recreation path holds. Expect single lane closures during both day and night.

Schedule: May 2025 through October 2026
Traffic Impacts: Daytime weekday single lane closures in both directions.

East Side of the Eisenhower Tunnel Projects
Location: I-70 from Chief Hosa to Morrison
Schedule: July 2024 to Spring 2026
Traffic Impacts: Westbound lane shift with reduced lane and shoulder widths on westbound side. Single and double lane closures during the night. Resurfacing work begins in mid-July.

Location: Clear Creek Canyon (US 6) from CO 119 to CO 58/CO 93
Schedule: 2024 to late 2026
Traffic Impacts: Daytime single lane closures and occasional overnight full canyon closures for construction of the Huntsman Gulch segment of the Peaks to Plains Trail.

Location: I-70 between Idaho Springs and Empire
Schedule: Open as toll lanes during peak period travel times, mostly on weekends and holidays.
Traffic Impacts: Enter and exit the Express Lanes through the dashed lines only, do not drive in the Express Lanes when they are closed and do not travel in the Express Lanes with an oversized vehicle. When these lanes are closed, they are used as an emergency shoulder for disabled and emergency vehicles.

Location: I-70 from west of Evergreen to eastern Idaho Springs
Schedule: Summer 2023 to late 2029
Traffic Impacts: I-70 lane and ramp closures, and flaggers and alternating traffic on US 40. Expect 20-minute I-70 traffic holds for rock blasting through the end of 2026. Watch for new traffic patterns, narrowed lanes and shoulders and reduced speed limits. Clear Creek Greenway Trail closure between US 6 and Hidden Valley.
