On Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) started construction on Interstate 70 over Garrison Street in Jefferson County. The project will widen the Garrison Bridge to extend the area to merge from the eastbound Kipling ramp onto I-70.
The project includes:
- widening a bridge;
- reconstructing part of a sound wall;
- removing guardrail type 7;
- retrofitting Portland cement concrete pavement (PCCP) dowel bars;
- PCCP shoulder pavements;
- relocating light standard and draining inlets; and
- replacing overhead sign structures.
Schedule
Work is estimated to be completed in winter 2017. Normal working hours will be from 7 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- In special cases, these hours may be extended.
- Weekend work may also occur, if a need is determined and agreed upon.
There will be lane closures and shifts throughout the course of the project. The speed limit will remain at 65 mph. Wide loads larger than 12 feet will be restricted through the work zone.
